NEXT GENERAL MEETING:

Friday: 26th June 2026

10am. at THE WARRAWEE CLUB

Our June 2026 Guest Speaker will be Professor Rosemarie Einstein BSc PhD

Rosemarie’s talk is entitled “Alcohol – Myths and Facts”

Rosemarie will speak about the use of alcohol for social and medicinal

purposes going back many thousands of years.  What does the drug

actually do in the body, and does it have any beneficial uses or

effects? There is no doubt excessive alcohol consumption predisposes

to some diseases. There can also be a considerable social cost.

And what happens when you are stopped by police for random

breath testing?

Rosemarie completed a BSc (Hons) and PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Sydney before working at the University of Leeds for a few years.  She returned to the University of Sydney and worked in the Department of Pharmacology until 2002.  From then until 2013 she worked in a private practice to provide medico-legal reports in matters relating to drugs and human performance.  The majority of these involved individuals who got into trouble, one way or another, with alcohol or other drugs.

As an aside, Rosemarie believes she is related to Albert Einstein the acclaimed German-born theoretical physicist best known for developing the theory of relativity. Her Grandfather and Albert were both born in the small village of Ulm in Germany.

The Old Fish Market
On 15 May a group of nine happy snappers met at Alan's home to evaluate each others’ Fish Market photos taken the previous month.  We all agreed that some truly excellent photos had been taken.
Just one of those is reproduced here to show the quality that we all aspire to.
